Point taken. As maligned as the 90s are, I think I'd take those covers (and the stories therein...I always had a soft spot for Conduit and the Parallax version of Hal Jordan) over the "New 52" any day. Probably helps that Zero Hour was my first crossover.

I'd say the opposite argument was made. The New 52 zeros are more distinctive, and often feature better artwork. It's fun to compare and contrast, but personal preferences come into play here more than objective criticism.

Not sure the art (penciling and inking) is better. I think it just seems more realistic because coloring has improved so much in the last 20 years. The 90ies covers look like the end of the manual coloring era/very early computer-colored work.

I'd say both Action covers are lousy, both Superman covers have their merits, both New 52 Bat covers pop more than the flat '90s, Chiang beats lesser Bolland on Wonder Woman, Reis wallops on Aquaman and Green Arrow, New Flash is tighter and more professional, neither Green Lantern, Catwoman, or JLA really works, Lee Weeks wins on Hawkman, McCrea's Demon has more punch, and Immonen's Legionnaires 3 tops Lightle's one.

I honestly don't even know that I had much of a point, aside from the fact that it's been done before and, more importantly my own curiosity of how much has changed or how much hasn't, in terms of costuming, logos, which characters that were headliners in 1994 are also headliners in 2012 and so on (I kinda cheated with Justice League and the Demon, as those EXACT titles aren't still around, but they seemed close enough--closer than The New Titans/Teen Titans, anyway).

I've certainly read more of the '94 O's than the '12 0's...forgot how goofy Superman's hair was...the New 52 Action looks a lot more attractive to me than the 1994 one.

Quite surprised to see that the 1994 0 issue of GL set Hal Jordan-replacement Kyle Rayner on the path to being Green Lantern (he had been GL for a bit already, but it sort of resolves the "Is Hal a villain now or what?" question for the then-forseeable future), AND the 2012 0 issue of GL sets Hal Jordan-replacement Simon Baz up as the new Green Lantern.

Also: Silver ink. So much silver ink...!
