Meanwhile...

This week I reviewed Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang's In Real Life for Good Comics For Kids, and Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey's Moon Knight Vol. 1: From The Dead for Robot 6, if you'd like to go read those reviews.

Glad to hear you liked Moon Knight so much.

Even for me, it starts to raise the question of how much story you're getting for your dollar (there's gotta be, what, 2000 words in that whole trade?)* — but it's just so inventive and solidly done, I think it starts to move the argument away from how much time it takes to read to how creative it is.

The done-in-one made it easier to sell, but you'd still be surprised by the number of people who wouldn't start a series at #2, even with reassurance that it has nothing to do with #1.

That said, rereading them all at once, there are some nice connections and themes that appear throughout.

The creative team's doing a series at Image next.

* plus, the number of times I had to read the opening sequence of #2 more than made up for how little text there was.
