Should DC maybe have some kind of rule about the maximum

number of books that can be released in a single week in which the villains discuss raping Supergirl?

(From Action Comics #872, written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Pete Woods and Brad Anderson)

(From Final Crisis #5, written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by J.G. Jones and Alex Sinclair)

This deserves a "hey kids!" tag too.

I am really losing my desire to ever read a straight DC coming again. I mean really people--has no one in editorial noticed how horrific things are getting? Not even good Vertigo titles have this much implied sexual violence!

But she's just a kid trying to adjust to eighth grade in her new solo series.

I didn't even pick up on the first one until you said something. Ugh...

Good God. And ick. I saw the reference in "Final Crisis," and that was not cool.

They do have such a rule, and the limit is, in fact, TWO.

This led to a re-write of Cartoon Network Action Pack #32.

It seems pretty clear that DC editorial is encouraging this sort of thing -- it's run, after all, by Dan "The rape pages are in!" Didio...

Those literally made me retch. Or it was the strong coffee. No, it was the Supergirl rape jokes.

Of course Vertigo books don't refer to sexual violence as often or as cavalierly as this-- girls actually read Vertigo titles. Also, Vertigo is for mature readers, not for emotionally-stunted readers who think rape is "edgy".

What was that thing BKV said once? "It's amazing how many women will turn up if you don't actively insult them."

Fail, DC. FAIL.

I was surprised that yours was the first blog that has mentioned that actually.
