Is "hell" still a bad word on the comics page...?

Because that certainly seems like the most likely word to end the sentence that lady's yelling at the professor in the third panel of this installment of Apartment 3-G. But they had to use the "@#*%" symbols to fill in for the swear word, and "hell" is an awfully "soft" swear word to have to go full caps lock-ed number keys to cover up.

Perhaps in actuality that lady is telling the professor to "Go to fuck!!" Such a strange phrase might explain his whirling, wobbly-headed reaction to her statement.

The lady in question, is...well rather questionable. So I guess she can swear in little @#$# is she wants to.

The problem that more concerns me, is that blondes should NEVER wear purple.

As someone who used to work on a newspaper, yeah, "hell" is definitely discouraged. I mean, we used to get complaints that Lio and Get Fuzzy were offensive. Gary Larson used to get away with a "damn" or a "hell" sometimes, back in the day, though I suspect the tolerance for that has grown even more conservative since then.

"Get to fuck" is a widely-used Scottish phrase. I wonder if she's being a bit transatlantic.

Truth be told, she actually said, "Go to cunt!" Hence the reason for the symbols and the shocked look on the man's face.
